Abadango’s EVO 2015 Pool Has Been Switched… To Something Worse

One of the major issues that we found yesterday in tracking the pools for Evo was that Abadango was playing ZeRo very early in tournament, in the round of 64 in winners bracket, where the loser was only guaranteed 65th. To put this in perspective, ZeRo is the undisputed champion of Smash Wii U, while Abadango is one of the best players from Japan who also managed to make it to Top 8 at Apex. The newest pools for Evo were released today (that are final outside of any outstanding issues) showed that Abadango was thankfully changed, however it was for the worse.

Abadango has now been changed to B33 to avoid fighting ZeRo so early, though this means he now will play against Nietono even earlier than he would have fought ZeRo! This would occur would round earlier, in the round of 128. Nietono is another one of the competitors who made top 8 at Apex, and the worst part about it is that he is one of the few competitors coming for Smash Wii U from Japan, just like Abadango. The two will have to face off six rounds before Winners Finals, where the two best Smash Wii U players coming from Japan will have to send one of the others to losers. Even aMSa has said he doesn’t see why Abadango is not seeded and he is, considering they are both from Japan and Abadango’s records certainly outweigh his own.

If anyone knows who is in control of Evo seeding, please reach out to them asap and get this changed. If anyone would like to reach out to me for assistance on modifying the pools (@CT_Chibo), please feel free to do so.

I would suggest moving Abadango to one of the following pools based on the time he has to play with the schedule:

8am: A37/A38 to make it similar to the original but playing ZeRo at round of 32 instead of 64. A46 to be in the same section as John Numbers/Aerolink/Nakat/8BitMan/DSS. Both of these options have Abadango playing Nietono in Winners Quarters.

10am: B44/B45, giving him MVD in round of 32, and perhaps a potential harder opponent slightly earlier than that. Would play ESAM in Winners Quarters, and if he succeeds, no notable Japanese players until Winners Semis.

12pm: C38/C39/C40/C41 would give him Salem in round of 32, ESAM in round of 16, MVD in Winners Quarters. This would also give him no notable Japanese players in winners until semis if he is successful.

2pm: D35/D36 would give him Nairo in round of 16, and Larry Lurr in Winners Quarters.

4pm: E49/E50 would give him Mr. R in round of 32, Vinnie/Nick Riddle/Dapuffster in round of 16, and Dabuz in Winners Quarters.

Considering Abadango is currently playing at 10am, if Evo wants to make no time changes for him and other players to swap with, he should be able to be easily moved to B44 or B45.
